As a businesswoman, one of the BIGGEST lessons I learned was structuring my businesses where I work less and do more.
The truth is this took me a great deal of trial and error, in learning, that if I wanted to both have a life and a successful business I had to finally let go of my ego thinking of "I Can Do It Myself."
When I first started, doing it all myself was what I had to do. I didn't make enough to leverage the ability to hire others to help me, however after a while, I had reached a point where the income was there, but my ego didn't want to let it all go.
My ego was all about holding it as my martyrdom responsibility. I thought if I didn't do it, it wouldn't get done right, or so and so wouldn't know the way I like it or blah blah blah. I came up with a million creative excuses. All these excuses did was hurt me, because I was draining my energy in not concentrating on the things which made my business thrive.
What finally changed was when it came down to either being burnt out to a crisp, or bringing on some help to support my business.
When I first started, bringing in work, it felt awkward, but once I figured out the following tricks, I will never go back as I work less and do so much more in my business today.
If you are ready to let go of working yourself to the bone, here is a simple an easy 3 step way to start working less and getting more done in your day today.
Start With One Small Task Outside Your Business To Delegate
Begin with starting with one small task you do outside your business to delegate. For example, bring in someone to clean your house once a month. When you transfer this to someone else to do, it allows you free time to do other things.
Add A new Task To the Time You Delegated
After you've gotten your time back from delegating your first outside business task, use the extra time to work on one item to propel your business forward. For example, instead of spending 3 hours once a month house cleaning, attend a business networking event for those 3 hours. You not only get to meet new business customers you will get to go home to a clean house. Win-Win!!
Repeat Steps 1 and 2
Once you start with going through the first two steps, keep going. Begin to add more tasks outside your business or even begin inside your biz — each time doing one small action at a time. The goal is for you to work on those things which are helping your business grow more.
Thus if you are ready to work less and do more, try the above 3-step process to help you begin moving forward to expand your business today without stressing out in the process.
