It’s that time of year again. The weather is getting warmer, the nights are getting longer, the pants are getting shorter, and the shirts are getting smaller! To some, summertime is a chance to wear their bikinis and booty shorts, but to others, it’s a reminder that their bodies “shouldn’t be seen by the public”. For years, the plus sized community has only been given the options of baggy mu-mus and Capri-length pants for our summer wear, but times have changed. Being plus sized has now become something that’s almost celebrated. Now, as I’ve said before: we should all strive to be our best selves: eat, drink, live healthy lives; however, we should all love our bodies at its current state!
It’s okay to feel insecure about your body – most people are! (even the fit ones) What’s not okay is hiding behind baggy clothes during hot temperatures because you’re afraid of offending someone. I still struggle with this mentality from time to time, but I cannot let anyone one else determine how I feel about myself, and neither should any of you.
My challenge to you this summer is to wear something you’re not comfortable in. Not necessarily an entire outfit, (I don’t want to cause anyone a panic attack!) but try mixing in a funky pattern or a pair of shorts or crop top with an existing clothing item that you love. You’ll be surprised at what you learn to love about your body!
Here’s some inspo pics of some of my favorite plus sized beauties!
